Legislation
Finding official free access NZ legislation online is currently not possible. There are however moves to change this. The links in this section are to a temporary web site which provides free public access to unofficial versions of New Zealand statutes (Public, Local, and Private Acts) and Statutory Regulations. You can search and browse this material free of charge.
The site is provided by the New Zealand Parliamentary Counsel Office (PCO) as part of the Public Access to Legislation (PAL) Project and is updated monthly. When the PAL Project is completed, the web site will be replaced by an official PCO web site that will provide free public access to New Zealand legislation, including Acts, regulations, and Bills.
The electronic versions of legislation on this site, and any material printed from this site, have no official status. This material is for information only, and should not be relied on as the authoritative text.
Official copies of legislation can be purchased from Bennetts Government Bookshops. Copies are also available in many public libraries.
